Something to Someone Everyday

In the spirit of giving something to someone everyday which I spoke of earlier, next Saturday morning (March 3), I will be at Shakespeare in The Village Mall in Jumerah with my yarns and crochet hook, ready to teach crochet basics to whoever joins me from 10am-12.30noon. Please bring any yarn with you and your own crochet hook. Try Craft Land at Town Center for yarns and hooks.
(above is some of my crochet artworks)

w@!l 6

w@!l 6 - my artwork feb2012 - freeform crochet & knitting, acrylic, gesso, newspapers, fine chicken wire on canvas 297 × 420 mm.

Jabotinsky considers the various peaceful possibilities for achieving the result he advocates and concludes that the Zionists “cannot promise anything to the Arabs of the Land of Israel [sic] or the Arab countries.” Since Palestine “would still remain for the Palestinians not a borderland, but their birthplace, the center of their own national existence, [t]herefore it would be necessary to carry on colonization against the will of the Palestinian Arabs, which is the same condition that exists now [in 1923]…Zionist colonization, even the most restricted, must either be terminated or carried out in defiance of the will of the native population.”
A Tale of Three Walls (paper by Anis Al Qasem).

Something

Last week I decided that I would give something to someone every day for a full year (and hopefully more)... time, books, clothes, (not advise, it's too egotistic :-)).

So, over the past week I gave A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Al Hossieni (author of The Kite Runner) to the manicurist at the mall where I have tea and read, she said she loved reading but books are too expensive.
I gave boxes of books and clothes to PCRF (check them out at www.pcrf.net).
Money to the man cleaning a favorite bookshop in Dubai, kinokuniya www.thedubaimall.com/en/shop/book-world-by-kinokuniya
Time to write content to a website, a retreat in Spain (www.fincaretreat.com).
Helped my husband cook falafel for lunch at friend's house.
Taught two teenage girls to knit.
Gave away my bottle of perfume to a woman because she liked the scent.

Wanna join me on this journey? Let me know, I'd love to hear if you could manage to do this daily, and I'd love to hear suggestions and ideas.

motorola xoom clutch bag

Fun, chunky yarn, knitted straight forward, lined. It took me an evening or two to make, but I had someone else make the lining for me. I'm not good with sewing :-).

Spices in Sharm

A sight involving all the senses: the aroma of the spices, their flavor, the way they feel in your hand, the colourful sacks, the textures rugs, the vendors explaining what each one does. Our food in the Middle East is so rich with flavor, so many spices go into every dish. The Aroma is a big part of the culinary delight.

"..Every indigenous people will resist alien settlers as long as they see any hope of ridding themselves of the danger of foreign settlement. That is what the Arabs in Palestine are doing, and what they will persist in doing as long as there remains a solitary spark of hope that they will be able to prevent the transformation of “Palestine” into the “Land of Israel”."

Vladimir Jabotinsky, the Zionist Russian leader, who succinctly formulated this ideology in an article first published in Russian on 4th November 1923, and in English on 26th November 1937 under the title “The Iron Wall (We and the Arabs)”.

Shi Sha in Sharm

I know a man who gave up smoking, drinking, sex, and rich food. He was healthy right up to the day he killed himself.
